As far as Australian and English cricket fans are concerned, the sport is all about The Ashes. While there may be two separate world cups and a host of global T20 tournaments, nothing can beat the quest to lift that little urn.

History and Format
Australia and England played the first ever test match in Melbourne in 1877. The Ashes were devised as a trophy some time later following a mock memorial for English cricket after a particularly poor performance at the Oval in 1882.
While there have been exceptions to the rule over the years, Ashes series generally involve five tests with England and Australia rotating hosting duties. The side winning most tests claims the trophy but, if the scores are tied, the team defending the Ashes gets to retain possession of the Urn.
Betting on the Ashes
It’s obviously possible to bet on the overall Ashes winner but there are other outright markets in place.
