Italy’s elite domestic football division contains some of the most successful clubs in world football. Juventus and the two Milan clubs - Inter and AC - have won multiple trophies on the wider stage and, while there have been successes for other sides, this trio can often dominate Serie A.
While those three may frequently rise to the top, Serie A is a competitive league with entertainment and drama right through the campaign. Away from the very top, there is a fight for the European places while those at the bottom face that eternal struggle to avoid relegation.
The existing Serie A format sees 20 teams take part and, across the season, sides will play each other on a home and away basis. There are no playoffs at the conclusion of that schedule so, at the end of 38 games, the team at the top of the table are crowned as Serie A champions.
Along with the overall winners, the clubs in second to fourth place will progress to the Champions League while the Europa League slots can go down to seventh place. At the bottom of that table, the three worst performing teams will automatically drop into the second tier of Italian domestic football - Serie B.
It’s a long campaign and it’s one that offers potential for a number of outright markets along with a host of match betting throughout the season.
That choice of outright markets starts with the overall winner while relegation and top four betting can also appear.
In terms of match markets, the regular option to bet on a win, loss or draw will be in place for all Serie A games while an extensive set of props includes team options such as total goals plus picks for individual goal scorers.
