The Everest is a 1200m sprint that attracts the world’s finest thoroughbreds. The prize pool totals $20 million, with the winner taking home $7 million. Its distinct feature is the "slot" system, which requires a $700,000 entry fee for one of the 12 slots available, attracting top owners from Australia and internationally. The latest winner of the Everest was Bella Nipotina who won the 2024 edition while being priced to win at $9.50.

How The Everest Slot System Works

The Everest’s "slot" system makes it unique in Australian horse racing. Slots are purchased for $700,000, and they can be traded, leased, or joint ventured. Notable slot holders for 2024 included Trackside Media (I Wish I Win), Chris Waller Racing (Joliestar), and TAB (Bella Nipotina). This system allows for strategic partnerships, which adds an extra level of intrigue.
